European Project Semester - EPS

EPS is a one-semester programme designed to train mainly third year engineering students to carry out project work in international teams. The value of working in an international environment and at the same time improving one’s English language skills cannot be overestimated in today’s global economy.

Aims and contents

The EPS course is designed to train engineering students to work in international teams.

Assessment: Minor supporting subjects; vary according to subject (written test, written exercises, course assignment, attendance, etc.). Team-based industrial project: group project report and oral examination. Graded.

The European Project Semester (EPS) is an international program consisting of 30ECTS – 20ECTS Project Work and 10ECTS Supporting Courses.

The EPS semester is divided into two parts:

  1. A multidisciplinary group project designed to develop students’ initiative, project management skills, co-operation, communication skills and individual creativity. Projects can be within the Faculty of Technology, Art and Design and/or in collaboration with external companies, partners and stakeholders.
  2. A study program comprising two Supporting Courses ( Project Management and English and Academic Writing ), which run throughout the semester, and a series of guest lectures and workshops.

Søknad og opptak


Spring semester: 1 October
Autumn semester: 15 April


The EPS course is designed for third year engineering students. Due to the multidisciplinary nature of the project, students with other educational background may also apply (e.g. Architecture, International marketing, Business and Administration).

Proficiency in English is required.
