Lending rules
Information about library cards, loan periods, renewals, how to order articles and fees.
Who can borrow?
The Learning Centre and Library is primarily serving HiOA's students and staff. Others can get a library card and borrow from our collections, but do not get extended services like interlibrary loans and database training/help. If busy, use of material / PCs can be reserved for HiOA's own students and staff.
Library card
For students and staff at HiOA, the student/staff ID card is also your library card. Others can use a national library card, by showing up in person and bringing a picture ID. If you don't bring your library card, you need to show another type of picture ID.
Address changes
Students change their addresses via Student Web, others have to contact the Learning Centre and Library.
Loan periods
You are personally responsible for the material you borrow and for returning it within the due dates.
The normal loan period is 3 weeks for students and 4 weeks for staff members.
Interlibrary loans may have other loan periods.
Loan periodes for students:
Kjeller | Pilestredet | |
Books, student papers etc. | 3 weeks | 3 weeks |
Journals | 2 weeks | Not for loan |
Films (DVD/video) | 2 weeks | 1 week |
Music and og audiobooks (digibooks/CD) | 1 week |
Loan renewal
If not requested by another user, items can usually be renewed up to five times. Journals (Kjeller Campus only) may not be renewed.
Order loans and copies
All students must find the books on the shelves themselves. But when books are on loan and are not available on your campus, you may reserve/order the material. The book will then be reserved or ordered from another library, and you will get a text message or e-mail when you can pick up the book. External users can only reserve material belonging to the Learning Centre and Library, i.e. they cannot order material from other libraries.
Late return of items (fees)
If you have not returnes the item by the 3rd notice, you will receive a fee of 200 NOK. Unpaid fees will result in no library services. You regain access to all library services once the fee is paid and the material is returned.
Pay fees via the following web page: Betaling av purregebyr (so far only in Norwegian - feel free to ask us for help/translation).
