Admission requirements for international students
Here you will find information about admission requirements for exchange and degree programmes.
Student exchange programmes
HiOA offers a range of courses taught in English on all levels. Admission to these courses is restricted to students participating in an exchange programme between HiOA and one of our partner institutions (ERASMUS, Nordplus and others). If you are currently a student at one of our partner institutions and would like to apply as an exchange student, please contact your home institution for information about the application procedures.
Bachelor's Degree programmes taught in Norwegian
If you would like to apply for a Bachelor's Degree taught in Norwegian, you have to meet the minimum requirements for entrance into Norwegian higher education. These minimum requirements have been specified by The Norwegian Agency for Quality Assurance in Education (NOKUT) and are listed under each country in the GSU-list.
Among the minimum requirements we would like to draw your attention to the requirements concerning proficiency in Norwegian and English, also specified by NOKUT.
Please note that admission to some study programmes, may require knowledge of specific subjects in addition to the general requirements.
Master's Degree programmes
Students who apply for a Master's Degree programme must normally have obtained an undergraduate/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of at least 3 years’ duration. The degree must include at least 1,5 years full-time studies of a subject related to the Master's Degree programme concerned.
The requirements for proficiency in English and Norwegian as refered to above, also apply to these programmes unless otherwise stated in the prerequisites of that particular programme. The Norwegian language requirements do not apply to programmes taught in English.
