We are looking forward to welcome you in Oslo in summer 2013. Here is some practical information you must read through before planning your trip.

Summer school start

Summer school will start with a welcome ceremony Tuesday 2 July 2013 at 09:00 at Høgskolen i Oslo og Akershus (Street address: Pilestredet 35, see map)

Make sure to plan your trip to Oslo in order for you to attend the ceremony. We recommend that you arrive on Monday 1 July in order for you to settle into your room.
For students who are going to live in student accommodation we will be handing out keys on Monday 1 July 2013 from hrs 10:00 - 20:00 .

The keys will be handed out at Pilestredet 35 with practical information and maps. Our students assistants can answer your questions.

If you arrive in Oslo before 1 July or after 20:00 on Monday 1 July you must arrange your own accommodation for the night. Here are some cheap alternatives:

Pilestredet 35 (see map) will be the main building for summer school. It is located very close to Holbergs plass/Radission Blu Scandinavia Hotell where the Airport Express Coach bus stops (Airport Express Coach homepage). Tram #11, #17 and #18 also stops outside the building.

How to get to Oslo

Oslo is easy to reach, by public transport or car. Oslo and Akershus University College of Applied Sciences (HiOA) is located in the centre of the city.

Arrival by plane:

  • Oslo Airport Gardermoen  :  This airport is situated approximately 50 kilometres to the north of Oslo. Airport buses will take you into the centre of town in 40 minutes. Get off the bus at the last stop: Radisson SAS Scandinavian Hotel (Holbergsgate 30) which is just beside HiOA. You can also take the Airport Express Train. This is a high velocity train which will bring you into Oslo Central Station in 19 minutes.
  • Sandefjord Airport Torp  :  Many low cost airlines fly into Torp, which is a small airport situated approximately 120 kilometres south of Oslo. There is a bus that will take you into the centre of Oslo, and the trip takes one hour and fifty minutes.
  • Moss Lufthavn Rygge: This is a new airport and some of the low cost airlines fly here. The airport is situated 60 kilometers south of Oslo. From the airport you can take Rygge Expressen into the center of Oslo (Bussterminalen)

Arrival by ferry:

You can reach Oslo by ferry from Denmark (Copenhagen, Fredrikshavn or Hirtshals) and Germany (Kiel). You can easily get into the city centre from the two different ferry terminals by public transport. Ferry companies: Colorline , Stenaline and DFDS .

Arrival by bus:

Oslo can be reached by bus from Denmark, Sweden and Germany.
