Admission to international Master's degree programmes and individual courses
Before you apply for admission to a Master's degree or courses taught in English, make sure that you are eligible to apply and fulfil all the admission requirements.

Information about each programme and its admission requirements is available on the programme description websites. The admission process and selection of students are in accordance with Regulations Related to Admission to Master's Degree Programmes at HiOA.
In order to apply for our international programmes and courses you must register an online application in the application portal. All applicants must register within the deadline.
Deadline for Master's degree programme applicants from the European Union / European Economic Area (EU/EEA) and Switzerland is 1 March (Master's programme in Product Design and early admission) / 15 April. The application portal opens 1 January.
Deadline for applicants from the rest of the world is 15 December. The application portal opens on 15 October. This deadline also applies to non-EU/EEA citizens residing in Norway. (Non-EU/EEA citizens who apply after the deadline 15 December are not considered international students. This means that you will not be guaranteed housing and we are unable to help with your visa and/or residence permit application).
You must upload copies of all required documentation together with your online application, preferably as pdf-files. All documents must be scanned copies of the original document.
All documents must be submitted before 15 December. If you are completing your degree after deadline and do not need a visa to visit Norway, you may submit your final diploma and transcripts within 1 July.
Special documentation requirements apply to certain countries . If you have education from one of these countries, your application will only be considered if you fulfil the requirements.
1. OsloMet enclosure form
Download the enclosure form to fill in your details. The completed form must be signed before you upload it to your application.

3. Bachelor’s degree diploma /certificate
A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent undergraduate degree is required for all applicants. If you hold a Master’s degree or other postgraduate degree, you should also upload copies of your postgraduate diploma.
Please note that bachelor’s degrees from some countries may not be recognised as equivalent to a Norwegian bachelor’s degree. Significant differences between the systems of education in Norway and the country of origin may have as a result in that only parts of the foreign education is recognized as equivalent to Norwegian higher education. The list of requirements for Higher Education Entrance Qualification for applicants with foreign education - the GSU list is a guiding tool for deciding whether a full or partial recognition can be granted.

4. Transcript of records from your Bachelor’s degree
A transcript of records from Bachelor’s degree or equivalent undergraduate education is required for all applicants. If you have a postgraduate degree or other additional higher education, you should also upload transcripts from these studies.

5. Proof of English proficiency
You are required to upload your own copy of your test results. Some tests require special verification procedures and some applicants are exempt from this requirement. Please refer to specific information below.

If the language of the original document is not English, an official translation made by an authorized translator must be enclosed.

8. Portfolio and letter of motivation
This concerns only Master's programme in Product Design
It is your responsibility to ensure that all submitted documents are accurate and unaltered .
Wrong or misleading information may lead to dismissal. Submission of fraudulent documents is illegal, and will be reported to the proper authorities. Please note that we reserve the right to contact institutions, associations and government agencies for the purpose of explanation and/or verification of submitted documents.
Applicants who are not native speakers of English must document their proficiency in English by taking one of the following internationally recognised tests:
- TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language with a minimum score of 550 on the paper-based test (PBT) or score of 80 on the internet-based test (IBT). Official test report forms must be sent directly to Oslo Metropolitan University (OsloMet) from ETS. The TOEFL code number is 6531. Please upload a copy of your result, and make sure that the results are also sent directly from ETS.
- IELTS - International English Language Testing System (academic) test with a minimum overall score of 6.0. Please upload the official copy of your test results. We will verify your test results online.
- PTE Academic - Pearson Test of English Academic with a minimum overall score of 62. Please send your score report to OsloMet through your Pearson account. We do not accept paper or PDF versions of PTE Academic score reports.
- CAE - Cambridge English: Advanced
Some applicants may be exempt from the required test in English proficiency.
Non EU/EEA citizens that are granted admission must deposit NOK 111.657 in a Norwegian bank account which is in your name or in the SiO visa deposits account. The deposit will be returned once you have your own bank account in Norway. See more information on documentation of finances for visa purposes.
Tuition is free of charge, but there is a semester registration fee of NOK 840, and there may be additional material fees for some programmes.
Oslo Metropolitan University does not offer any scholarships.
