Start of the semester – Opening Ceremony

Opening ceremony for all new students at St.Hanshaugen, Oslo.

Place: St.Hanshaugen Time: 11:00

HiOA welcomes all new students to the opening ceremony at St. Hanshaugen, Oslo. Whether you are arriving by foot from Pilestredet Campus or by bus from Kjeller Campus, study buddies are ready to greet you as new student at HiOA and show you the way before the ceremony.

The ceremony will include speeches by Fabian Stang, the Mayor of Oslo, Kari Toverud Jensen, rector at HiOA, and Tuva Aune Wettland, President of the Student Parliament. There will also be music by Lars Vaular and HiOA’s Big Band. The duration of the ceremony is approximately 1 hour.

After the ceremony, students will be able to meet other students from their faculties.

 

How to get to St. Hanshaugen, Oslo:

- Pilestredet Campus is situated approximately 800 meters from the outdoor stage at St. Hanshaugen. St. Hanshaugen is a 10 minutes’ walk from campus. Signs will show the way to the opening ceremony. (See map).

- From Kjeller Campus there will be a bus taking all new students to St. Hanshaugen. The bus is free of charge. At the bus stop there will be someone to meet you and take you to the outdoor stage.

Stang og Vaular kommer

The Mayor of Oslo, Fabian Stang is among the speakers who are going to welcome all new students to HiOA.

Music by Lars Vaular Lars Vaular
Lars Vaular is a Norwegian rap artist who since his debut in 2007 has released four albums and received great reviews from Norwegian critics. He has won three “Spellemannspriser” (Norwegian music award), in addition to being nominated for the award three times. Vaular sings in Norwegian and has been awarded for using his own regional accent.

Free consert
In addition to performing at the opening ceremony, Lars Vaular will hold a free concert for HiOA’s students at St. Hanshaugen at 18:00 at the day of the opening ceremony.
