Clinical Practice - Testing for Tuberculosis and MRSA
Information about testing for tuberculosis and MRSA in connection with practical training and clinical practice. Applicable to certain study programmes at HiOA.
You are obliged to be tested for tuberculosis if you are going to have clinical practice within the health care sector in Norway, and you have spent more than three months in one of the following countries:
- Countries outside Western Europe (including Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Slovenia), USA, Canada, New Zealand and Japan.
Documentation of completed tuberculosis test with acceptable results should be submitted any time prior to arrival at HiOA, or at the latest on arrival at HiOA.
MRSA-Meticillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus screening
You are obliged to be tested for MRSA if you have been working, have been in clinical practice or have been admitted to a hospital or other health care institutions outside the Nordic countries.
You will not be allowed to start in clinical practice if the test is positive, therefore we strongly recommend you to be tested for MRSA before leaving for Norway.
You must submit documentation of completed MRSA test from the nose and throat with negative result prior to arrival HiOA, or at the latest on arrival HiOA.
Please note that it can take up to 10 days to get test results clear. If the result is positive for the infection, it takes several weeks to review the procedure to be cleared.
Please contact your International Coordinator for information about where to take the test.
Some clinical sites may request additional tests. Please respect these requests and provide the site hosting your clinical study with the documentation they need.
